Mallorca a paradise for cyclists |

Cala Sant Jordi - Santanyi. Points of Interest: Santanyí is famous for its work in stone and the streets in the area are the visible proof of this. It is worth riding around the town and visiting the church which contains an organ of great artistic importance. In La Colonia, there are salt flats and some of the best beaches in Mallorca, such as Es Trenc and Ses Covetes. Itinerary: Colonia Sant Jordi - Ses Salines - Faro del Cabo de Ses Salines - Llombards - Santanyi. Distance: Colonia Sant Jordi- Faro: 22kms. one way. If we choose to bypass the fare (lighthouse): 14 kms. to Llombards and 17,5 kms. to Santanyi one way. Difficulty: This is a simple excursion, although we will come across several hills of average difficulty. A mountain bike is not required. Route: Departing from Colonia de Sant Jordi we will find a turn off towards Campos and another to Ses Salines. If we take the first, a visit to the wonderful beach Es Trenc is more than recommended, particularly as it is only 6kms. away and besides, the road is paved. If we choose to go to Ses Salines, it is approximately 10 kms. away. Once we have crossed the town and after 3 kms, we will observe a sign indicating the turn off to the lighthouse. The road, surrounded by woodland, is peaceful and we can breathe in the country air. Next to the lighthouse is the rocky beach, although accessible, and here we may bathe if so desired. On the way back, we suggest a visit to Llombards, a very typical and quiet Majorcan village. Those who still have some breath left may wish to continue on to the town of Santanyi which has a street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays selling typical craft articles.
