Alcudia - La Victoria.

Points of interest: The lovely view to be seen from a certain height of the entire Bay of Pollença will compensate for the difficulty of this excursion. On the peak there is a watch tower built in 1599. The hermitage houses a wooden statue that dates back to the XVth. century and which honours Victoria the patron saint of Alcúdia.

Itinerary: Alcúdia - Ermita de la Vitoria - la Atalaya de Alcúdia (444 metres high).

Distance: 12 kilometres by bicycle, there and back, up to the Ermita (hermitage). Following this we may climb up on toot to the Atalaya (a scenic viewpoint), which is about an hour's walk, or we can continue by bicycle, mountain bike only as the road is uphill and very stony.

Difficulty: Although short, the excursion is quite difficult for beginners since there are several steep climbs. The 12 Kms. of road run round landslips and breathtaking views of the bay of Pollença. The stretch of road completed on foot should not present many difficulties for those accustomed to walking.

Route: The excursion commences in Alcúdia from where we will head towards the Puerto de Alcúdia. There are two ways to reach the port, however we shall take the one which requires us to turn to the right of the front part of the walls of Alcúdia. Once we have crossed a set of traffic lights we will observe a sign which indicates the road To sew ask to La Vitoria and Mal Pas. We will follow along this road and when we find a Llrge tree which separates it into two we will take the turn off to the right. We will continue along this road, which follows round the coast, for the remainder of the excursion. We will pass by the hostel of La Victoria, a picnic spot and we will later follow along the road until we reach the hermitage. Once at the hermitage and the restaurant we will continue on foot up to the Atalaya along a road which is no longer paved. For the return journey we will continue along this same road. Once we find the tree again which separates the road, instead of turning to the left we will carry straight on, along the road Camí de Short des Moro, which will take us to Alcúdia.
